The USCG is responsible for maintaining operational control of the border through operations to control, secure, and defend the U.S. border and maritime approaches. They also facilitate commerce vital to economic security and strategic mobility through operations to control, secure, and defend ports, waterways, and shipping in the physical and cyber domains, aiming to restore U.S. maritime dominance. Additionally, the USCG is tasked with responding to crises or contingencies with little or no warning by sustaining readiness.
