Captain Roba Todo, also known as “Scourge Of the Laguna Madre,” invites guests to join him and his crew on an interactive pirate adventure cruise. This experience is designed for all ages, from 2 to 92, promising entertainment, excitement, and fun. Participants can learn to fight, speak, and hunt for treasure like pirates, and share in the spoils. The cruise offers a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience a pirate’s life on the waters of the Laguna Madre. The Black Dragon is a modern replica of a 17th-century galleon, equipped with the latest marine technology for a safe and seaworthy journey. It evokes the era of pirates like Jean Lafitte, who sailed the Gulf of Mexico and Laguna Madre. The ship itself was constructed at Duckworth Shipyard in Tarpon Springs, FL, and designed by Daniel J. Avoures & Assoc. of Tampa. It measures 75 feet long with a 20-foot beam and weighs 80 gross tons. Before boarding, guests are encouraged to arrive a half-hour early for a "meet and greet" on the waterfront patio behind Black Jack’s restaurant. Here, pirates introduce themselves, perform improv, and fire the "Gollywobbler" cannon to signal the start of the adventure. Throughout the cruise, a professional pirate crew provides entertainment, including pirate stories, face painting, treasure hunts, water pistol battles, sword fighting, and music. Dolphin watching is also a common highlight on most cruises. Food and beverages, such as sodas, snacks, beer, wine, piña coladas, rum, tequila, and whiskey-based drinks, are available for purchase on board. The ship accepts Mastercard and Visa. Photo opportunities with the captain and crew are available before boarding, with purchased photos ready at the end of the voyage. The Black Dragon is equipped with 10 cannons that fire with visual and audio effects, simulating a 17th-century naval battle. Special events, including themed weddings and private parties, can also be planned and booked by calling a dedicated number.
