The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces and one of America's five armed forces, operating under the Department of Homeland Security during peacetime and can be transferred to the U.S. Navy by the President during wartime. For over 235 years, the Coast Guard has been safeguarding the Nation's economic prosperity and national security. They achieve complete operational control of the border through operations to secure and defend U.S. maritime approaches. The USCG also facilitates commerce vital to economic security and strategic mobility by controlling, securing, and defending ports, waterways, and shipping in both physical and cyber domains, aiming to restore U.S. maritime dominance. Furthermore, they are prepared to respond to any crisis or contingency with little or no warning by sustaining readiness. With a significant investment and strategic initiatives like Force Design 2028, the Coast Guard is building a more agile, capable, and responsive force to defeat adversaries and protect the Homeland.
