The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces and one of the nation's five armed forces. For over 235 years, the American people have depended on the Coast Guard to ensure the nation's economic prosperity and national security. The USCG is responsible for maintaining operational control of the border through operations to secure and defend the U.S. maritime border and approaches. They also facilitate commerce vital to economic security and strategic mobility by controlling, securing, and defending ports, waterways, and shipping in both physical and cyber domains. Furthermore, the USCG is tasked with responding effectively to crises and contingencies by sustaining readiness. With a significant investment and strategic initiatives like Force Design 2028, they are building a more agile, capable, and responsive force to defeat adversaries and protect the Homeland.
