Cape May, NJ
The Cape May Whale Watch & Research Center, established in 1987, is Cape May’s original eco-tour operation. With a strong emphasis on science, research, education, and conservation, the center offers a unique marine experience. The family-owned and operated business, run by Captains Matt and Melissa, features the American Star, a floating marine research center. Onboard, marine biologists and naturalists provide in-depth narration on the biological and historical significance of the marine life and surroundings. Undergraduate research interns collect data on all trips and lead hands-on learning stations, allowing passengers to become part of the research team. Through patronage, visitors support ongoing research and conservation efforts.
